During the
Dissemination Event, the Consortium DHIP promoted the project's results, the
practices already developed, and the upcoming cooperation opportunities arising
from the international project network.
On 5 May 2021, the University of Deusto
(Bilbao) and the University of Pisa hosted a dissemination event to promote
among EU Higher Education Institutions' networks and other stakeholders the holistic
idea of internationalization. With the help of the Fundacion Eurosur, which is
in charge of managing the Latin American network, they also showed the results
achieved in developing and integrating the internationalization dimension into
the structural and cultural components of Latin America.
Due to the COVID19 emergency and the
international pandemic scenario, the event was a virtual workshop that aroused
great interest among participants. Over 250 people around the world attended
the meeting.
The welcome session was held by Prof. Alex
Rayon Jerez, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Digital Transformation
of the University of Deusto and Mr. Bruno Carapella, President, Fundación
Eurosur para la Cooperación entre América Latina y la Unión Europea.
Into the panel, Ms Eva Valle Casanova, of the
Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), and project
officer of the project, encouraged the Consortium to move forward trying to
continue to aspire to achieve positive results as it has done in the past, also
by sharing experiences with other projects in the same geographical area. Also,
she hoped that DHIP could continue to grow and create future sustainability for
the project and the Consortium.
The workshop was a success also because
representatives of the European Commission and Latin American Country
Representatives attended.
For the EU side, Mr Filip van Depoele, Deputy Head of Unit Education department at European Commission, presented the new Erasmus Programme 2021-2027 and the new cooperation opportunities.
Then Ms. Marina Larrea, Coordinator of the Program for the Internationalization of Higher Education and International Cooperation (PIESCI), Ministry of Education in Argentina, Mr. José Maximiliano Gómez Torres, Vice Minister of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education in Colombia and Ms. Celeste Mancuello, Vice Minister of Higher Education and Sciences in Paraguay, representatives of the Latin American countries involved in the project gave a brief overview of the internationalization strategies and international relations in Latin America.
After the institutional moment, Professor
Francesco Marcelloni, Vice-Rector for international cooperation and relations
of the University of Pisa, provided insight into the DHIP Project and the main
results. He highlighted the significant
progress increasingly being achieved in the internationalization field by the
Latin American Partner.
A pre-recorded roundtable session, introduced
by EUROSUR Representatives, showed the experience and lessons learnt by the
Latin American Higher institution involved in the project. They underlined that
there had been a growing awareness of internationalization but more still
needed to be done.
Prof. Ann Katherine Isaacs, ECTS, Bologna and
Tuning expert from the University of Pisa, chaired the last part of the
meeting. She presented and explained
the Internationalization Enhancement Plan methodology, known as IEP, the
starting point of the institutional internationalization strategy.
